Pawan Gupta's journey to becoming an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer is a compelling story of perseverance and determination. Hailing from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, Gupta's background is rooted in modest beginnings. He grew up in a business family and pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Durgapur. It was during his college years that he first became inspired to take on the challenging journey of the UPSC examination.
After completing his engineering studies, Gupta faced financial constraints that led him to work for a car manufacturing company. Despite the demanding nature of his job, he remained steadfast in his ambition to join the civil services. His determination to crack the UPSC exam was unwavering, even as he faced repeated setbacks.
Gupta's first attempts in 2016 were met with disappointment as he failed to clear the Preliminary exams. Undeterred, he continued his preparations while balancing his job responsibilities. In 2017, he made another attempt but once again fell short of passing the prelims. These failures did not diminish his resolve; instead, they fueled his determination to succeed.
Gupta's perseverance paid off in 2022 when he finally achieved his goal. After multiple attempts and rigorous preparation, he secured an All India Rank of 90, marking his successful entry into the Indian Foreign Service.
