Nimitta Matra is set to revolutionize Kannada cinema as its first venture into the parapsychological thriller genre. Directed by Roshan D'Souza, a former software engineer turned filmmaker, the movie features a talented cast, including Poornachandra Mysore, Sangeetha Rajeev, and Aravind Kuplikar. The film is set against the bustling backdrops of Bengaluru and Mangaluru, where it delves into themes of the unexplained and paranormal phenomena.
The narrative centers around a chilling incident from 15 years ago in Mangaluru. An investigative journalist, inspired by his father's legacy, embarks on a quest to uncover the truth behind this haunting event. The film poses compelling questions: Will the journalist unravel the mystery? Will justice prevail? These suspenseful inquiries are woven throughout the storyline.
Director Roshan D'Souza notes, “Certain outcomes cannot be scientifically explained. They exist beyond science,” referencing historical figures like Nostradamus, whose prophecies continue to intrigue humanity. This sets the stage for exploring phenomena that challenge conventional understanding.
Anchored in a fictional incident, Nimitta Matra ignites a broader investigation, revealing deeper connections as the plot unfolds. "The title itself signifies a message, intricately weaving layers of suspense and drama," Roshan explains, highlighting his multifaceted role as director, writer, and editor.
Sangeetha Rajeev, also known as SaRa, stars as the female lead and takes on multiple roles, including co-writer and associate director. She shares, “I’m probably the first to play the lead while also directing the music,” marking her debut in both acting and music direction in Kannada cinema.
In support of this innovative project, Dhanraj from the Kannada Film Club, a non-profit organization, is backing the film through unique promotional strategies ahead of its release. Nimitta Matra is anticipated to captivate audiences with its fresh approach to storytelling in Kannada cinema.
