Actor Sapthami Gowda, who gained recognition for her portrayal of Leela in the acclaimed film Kantara, is set to reunite with Dhananjaya in the upcoming historical drama Halagali. Gowda's journey began in Suri's Popcorn Monkey Tiger, where she shared the screen with Dhananjaya, and their collaboration once again is highly anticipated. Following her Bollywood debut in The Vaccine, Sapthami recently appeared in Yuva alongside Yuvarajkumar and is currently shooting for her first Telugu film with Nithin. She will join the Halagali team on November 11.
Directed by Sukesh DK and produced by Kalyan Chakravarthy, Halagali is poised to be a significant pan-Indian release, available in multiple languages. The film aims to shed light on a crucial yet lesser-known chapter of Karnataka's history, focusing on the Beda community's uprising against British colonial forces in 1857, marking one of the earliest guerrilla movements in India.
Prakash Raj will play a significant role as Huliyappa Nayaka, a revered 90-year-old village head, adding depth to the narrative. With a substantial budget allocated for detailed sets and a captivating storyline, Halagali intends to honor the valor of Kannada warriors. Dhananjaya will portray a fierce warrior, reflecting the unrecorded struggles faced by these heroes in their fight against British rule.
The film also boasts a talented technical team, including acclaimed stunt director Vikram Mor, who is known for his innovative action sequences, and music composed by Vasuki Vaibhav, further enhancing the film's appeal. With its gripping storyline and a focus on historical significance, Halagali promises to be an engaging cinematic experience that pays tribute to the bravery of Karnataka's unsung heroes.
