Following the success of his second directorial venture Bheema, Vijay Kumar is now engrossed in shooting his next film, Rachayya, directed by Jadeshaa K Hampi. The movie is currently in its third shooting schedule, which resumed today. Officially titled Rachayya, the film features Vijay Kumar in the lead role, portraying a character rooted in real-life events and inspired by K Shivaram Karanth’s classic work Chomana Dudi. Vijay’s role in Rachayya mirrors the essence of Chomana, set against the nostalgic backdrop of the 90s.
Rachita Ram joins Vijay as the female lead, reuniting with him after their collaboration in Johnny Johnny Yes Papa (2018). Additionally, veteran actor Umashree will portray the protagonist’s mother, recreating the memorable on-screen bond from Bheema Theeradalli. This mother-son duo is set to captivate audiences once again. The film also stars Raj B Shetty as the antagonist, adding further depth to the story.
Rachayya marks the film debut of Vijay Kumar’s daughter, Ritanya. The movie is produced by KV Satya Prakash, with dialogues written by Maasthi of Kaatera fame. Cinematography is handled by Swamy, capturing the film's rural and period setting with authenticity.
Currently, filming is taking place in scenic locations like Kolar and Gudibande. The first look of Rachayya is set to be revealed on November 1, in celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava.
