Jailer 2 Release: Dhanush, Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Latha Attend First-Day-First-Show Screenings
The theatrical release of Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 brought together film celebrations and notable celebrity appearances in Chennai on October 15, 2026. Actor Dhanush attended a first-day-first-show screening of the film, with reports also noting the presence of his sons, Yatra and Linga. Rajinikanth’s daughter, Aishwarya Rajinikanth, and wife, Latha Rajinikanth, were also among those who attended the opening-day screenings.
The appearances attracted attention from fans as cinemas welcomed the sequel to the 2023 film Jailer. The release was accompanied by enthusiastic gatherings, special celebrations and strong interest in the return of Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
Dhanush Watches Rajinikanth’s Latest Film
Dhanush, who has frequently expressed admiration for Rajinikanth, attended the first-day-first-show screening of Jailer 2 in Chennai. Reports identified his sons, Yatra and Linga, among those who watched the film on its release day.
The appearance drew attention because Dhanush is connected to Rajinikanth’s family through Aishwarya Rajinikanth, his former wife and the actor’s daughter. The family members’ presence at screenings of the superstar’s films became a talking point among cinema audiences and entertainment news followers.
According to Cinema Express, Dhanush later shared his reaction to the film, calling Jailer 2 a must-watch and describing it as a feast for Rajinikanth fans. His comments added to the conversation surrounding the sequel’s opening-day reception.
Dhanush’s response was one of several celebrity reactions to the film. Audiences also followed the first-day screenings through social media posts and photographs shared from theatres.
Aishwarya and Latha Rajinikanth Attend the Screening
Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Latha Rajinikanth were also reported to have attended the film’s opening-day screenings. Their presence added a family dimension to the release-day coverage, alongside the appearance of Dhanush and his sons.
Rajinikanth’s family has often attracted attention during important milestones in the actor’s career. The release of a major film starring the veteran actor is frequently accompanied by public appearances, fan gatherings and widespread social media discussion.
Reports from October 15 highlighted the attendance of several members of Rajinikanth’s family and other film personalities. However, accounts differed on the precise arrangements at individual screenings, so the reported appearances should not automatically be interpreted as confirmation that every family member watched the film together in the same theatre.
Jailer 2 Opens in Theatres
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is the sequel to the 2023 action drama Jailer. The first film featured Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer whose family life becomes entangled with a dangerous criminal network.
The sequel continues the story of the character and reunites Rajinikanth with director Nelson. The film features returning cast members and new additions, bringing together performers from Tamil cinema and other Indian film industries.
Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Yogi Babu and other familiar faces are associated with the film, while actors including S. J. Suryah and Vidya Balan are among the additions reported for the sequel. Anirudh Ravichander returns as the music composer.
The combination of a popular lead actor, a returning director and an expanded ensemble cast helped build interest ahead of the theatrical release.
Opening-Day Celebrations Draw Attention
The release of Jailer 2 was accompanied by celebrations at cinemas, particularly in Chennai. Fans gathered for early screenings, cheered for Rajinikanth and shared videos of the atmosphere inside and outside theatres.
The attendance of actors and family members added another point of interest for audiences following the release. Social media posts and entertainment reports circulated images and updates from the first-day-first-show screenings, making the event a widely discussed topic among Tamil cinema followers.
While celebrity attendance and fan enthusiasm are important aspects of a major release, they do not independently establish a film’s box-office performance. Ticket sales, verified collection figures and audience reviews over the following days will provide a clearer picture of the film’s commercial reception.
Dhanush Shares His Reaction
Dhanush’s reported positive reaction became another talking point after the screening. His description of the film as a must-watch for Rajinikanth fans was covered by entertainment publications following the release.
Celebrity reactions can influence the online discussion surrounding a film, although individual opinions remain personal responses rather than a substitute for broader audience feedback. Viewers will continue to assess the film based on its story, performances, action sequences, music and overall presentation.
Jailer 2 marks another collaboration between Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar after the first film’s success. With the sequel now in theatres, attention is focused on audience responses and its performance during the opening weekend.
The first-day-first-show appearances of Dhanush, his sons, Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Latha Rajinikanth added to the interest surrounding the release. The film’s theatrical run will determine how the sequel ultimately performs with audiences across India and overseas.
