Jailer 2 Release: Rajinikanth Fans Perform Aarti and Pour Milk on His Poster as Celebrations Go Viral
The theatrical release of Jailer 2 has triggered enthusiastic celebrations among fans of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, with videos of supporters dancing, performing aarti and pouring milk over his posters circulating on social media. The celebrations have drawn attention to the actor's enduring popularity and the excitement surrounding the sequel to his 2023 blockbuster.
In Chennai, fans gathered outside Rohini Theatre in Koyambedu to mark the film's release. Videos shared online show supporters assembling in front of large posters of Rajinikanth, performing traditional aarti rituals and pouring milk over the actor's image. Some fans were also seen dancing and cheering as they celebrated the arrival of the much-anticipated film.
The release-day scenes have attracted attention on social media, where Rajinikanth's fans regularly organise celebrations to mark major film releases. The latest gatherings once again highlight the distinctive fan culture associated with the veteran actor, whose screen presence and signature style have earned him a loyal following across generations.
Jailer 2 Arrives in Theatres
Jailer 2 was released in theatres on October 15, 2026. The film is the sequel to Jailer, which was released in 2023 and became a major commercial success. The new instalment has generated considerable anticipation among audiences eager to see Rajinikanth return to one of his recent popular characters.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures under Kalanithi Maran, the film brings back Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The character, introduced in the first film, is a retired prison warden whose seemingly ordinary life becomes connected to dangerous criminal activities.
The sequel continues the story of Muthuvel Pandian and features a cast that includes Ramya Krishnan, S. J. Suryah, Mohanlal, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Mithun Chakraborty, among others. The film has also drawn interest because of appearances by prominent actors from different film industries.
The combination of Rajinikanth's return, Nelson Dilipkumar's direction and the involvement of well-known performers has contributed to the attention surrounding the release.
Fans Celebrate With Traditional Rituals
For many Rajinikanth supporters, a major film release is more than an opportunity to watch a new movie. It is also an occasion to gather with fellow fans and celebrate their admiration for the actor.
The scenes outside Rohini Theatre reflected this tradition. Fans were seen performing aarti in front of Rajinikanth's poster, while others poured milk over the display as part of their release-day celebrations. Dancing and loud cheers added to the atmosphere around the cinema.
Similar celebrations have been reported in other locations, with fans gathering for early-morning screenings and organising special events to welcome the film. The enthusiasm has extended beyond Chennai, with reports of celebrations in other Indian cities and among overseas audiences.
Such events have become a familiar feature of major releases featuring leading South Indian stars. For Rajinikanth, whose career spans several decades, these gatherings reflect the continued connection between the actor and his audience.
Social Media Videos Draw Attention
Videos of the celebrations have spread across social media platforms, allowing audiences to view the scenes outside cinemas even if they are not attending the screenings in person. The footage featuring aarti rituals, milk offerings and dancing has become part of the wider online discussion surrounding Jailer 2.
The attention also demonstrates how social media has changed the way film releases are experienced and reported. Fan celebrations that once attracted attention mainly among people gathered outside a theatre can now reach audiences across India and internationally within a short time.
However, individual videos represent particular locations and moments. They should not automatically be treated as evidence of audience response across every theatre or region. The scale of a film's reception is better assessed through a combination of verified reports, audience feedback and box-office figures released by reliable sources.
Expectations Surround the Sequel
Jailer 2 follows a first instalment that established Tiger Muthuvel Pandian as a memorable character for many viewers. The sequel's release has therefore generated interest among fans who want to see how the story develops and how the returning characters fit into the new plot.
The film's opening-day celebrations demonstrate the level of attention surrounding Rajinikanth's latest theatrical appearance. Nevertheless, fan enthusiasm outside cinemas is separate from the film's eventual commercial performance. Its box-office outcome will depend on factors such as audience response, screenings, ticket sales and its performance over the coming days.
For now, the release has provided Rajinikanth's supporters with an occasion to celebrate their favourite star. The viral videos from Chennai and other locations have placed the fan festivities at the centre of the film's opening-day coverage.
As Jailer 2 continues its theatrical run, audience reactions and verified box-office updates are expected to shape the discussion around the sequel. The celebrations outside Rohini Theatre offer a visible example of Rajinikanth's enduring appeal and the excitement that continues to accompany his major film releases.
