Choreographer Jani Master, recently arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, has been granted conditional bail by the Telangana High Court on Thursday. His arrest came after a 21-year-old choreographer, who had worked as an assistant to him, accused him of sexual assault occurring over four years. Following these allegations, Jani Master was charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those related to rape and criminal intimidation.
In light of the serious allegations, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry revoked Jani Master’s National Award, which he was to receive for his work on the 2022 film Thiruchitrambalam. The ministry also withdrew his invitation to the 70th National Awards ceremony held on October 8.
Jani Master was arrested by the Cyberabad Police on September 19 in Goa. Shortly after his arrest, he reportedly confessed to the allegations against him, further complicating his legal situation. The conditional bail granted by the court allows him temporary relief but comes amidst ongoing scrutiny and serious charges.
