The Parvathipuram Manyam district of Andhra Pradesh witnessed intense rainfall and gusty winds on Monday evening, leading to widespread disruptions in daily life and infrastructure damage across several parts of the region. According to local authorities, the sudden change in weather conditions was due to a low-pressure system active over the Bay of Bengal, which triggered heavy downpours and squall-like winds in parts of northern Andhra Pradesh.

The unexpected spell of rain began in the afternoon and intensified by evening, resulting in significant waterlogging in low-lying areas and affecting road transport. Multiple trees were uprooted due to the high-speed winds, blocking roads and damaging public and private properties. Electricity supply was disrupted in several villages and urban areas after power lines were snapped by falling trees.

In many places, the district administration received reports of minor flooding, particularly in areas lacking proper drainage systems. Emergency response teams, including disaster management personnel, were deployed to clear blocked roads and restore electricity. Efforts were also made to remove debris and ensure smooth traffic movement as conditions improved.

Speaking to the media, a senior official from the Parvathipuram Manyam district administration said, "Our teams are on high alert. Restoration of electricity and clearing of roads are being carried out on a priority basis. We are also coordinating with the meteorological department for updates and have asked residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary."

Local farmers expressed concern as the sudden rain and strong winds have caused damage to standing crops, especially maize and paddy in rural parts of the district. Agricultural officers have been instructed to assess the extent of damage and submit reports for possible compensation under state disaster relief measures.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for continued moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh, including Parvathipuram Manyam, over the next 48 hours. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea due to rough conditions, and residents are urged to remain cautious and follow official advisories.

Residents in several towns took to social media to share images and videos of uprooted trees, waterlogged streets, and electric poles lying on the ground. Many expressed concerns over the lack of preparedness for such weather events, urging the authorities to strengthen the disaster management infrastructure in the district.

While no casualties were reported as of now, the district authorities are monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to open relief shelters if needed. Updates will continue to be provided through official channels.

This bout of extreme weather highlights the increasing unpredictability of climate patterns in coastal regions, underlining the need for robust early-warning systems and proactive civic planning.

Speaking to the media, a senior official from the Parvathipuram Manyam district administration said, "Our teams are on high alert.
