Himachal Pradesh experienced its first snowfall of the season on Sunday, transforming the region’s scenic hills into a winter wonderland. Popular destinations such as Shimla, Manali, Kufri, and Narkanda received fresh snow, drawing large numbers of tourists eager to enjoy the winter charm. Visuals from Shimla captured snow-covered streets, rooftops, and pine trees, creating postcard-worthy scenes.
Tourists celebrated the snowfall by enjoying snowball fights, building snowmen, and taking picturesque photos. Local businesses, especially hotels and travel operators, welcomed the snowfall, expecting a surge in tourist bookings during the holiday season.
However, the snowfall also caused disruptions in daily life, including blocked roads, power outages, and travel delays. Authorities deployed snow-clearing machinery and advised travelers to be cautious, especially on hilly and slippery roads. Key routes like the Shimla-Kufri and Manali-Rohtang Pass highways experienced heavy traffic due to snow accumulation.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted more snowfall in the higher altitudes and light rain in lower regions over the coming days. Residents were advised to stay updated on weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel. Emergency services remained on high alert to ensure safety and quick response during any weather-related emergencies.
The season's first snowfall in Himachal Pradesh has not only delighted tourists but also marked the beginning of the winter season, promising more snow-filled adventures in the weeks ahead.
