Chennai, August 4, 2025 – The Agaram Foundation, led by actor and philanthropist Suriya, marked 15 years of its flagship educational initiative, Vidai (Seed), with a grand anniversary event in Chennai. The program, which began in 2009, focuses on supporting meritorious students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Over the years, it has provided thousands of students with not only financial assistance but also mentorship and life skills training.
Speaking at the event, Suriya expressed deep gratitude to the teachers, volunteers, donors, and students who have supported the journey of Vidai. He emphasized that the real heroes of the foundation are the students who overcame adversity to pursue education and eventually became contributors to their communities.
“This 15-year journey has taught us all that true change is possible when we believe in people and support them at the right time. These students are proof that education can break the cycle of poverty and create leaders,” Suriya said in his address.
He also shed light on the challenges faced by the foundation in reaching remote areas and building trust among underprivileged families. Despite those obstacles, he stressed that consistent support and mentorship have been crucial in helping first-generation learners rise above their circumstances.
The event included heartfelt testimonials from students who have benefited from the Vidai initiative, many of whom are now professionals in fields like medicine, engineering, education, and public service. Panel discussions focused on the future of inclusive education, and cultural performances by students added an uplifting spirit to the day.
Suriya encouraged more people to become part of this educational movement, noting that investing in education is investing in a stronger society. He reaffirmed Agaram Foundation’s commitment to creating equal opportunities for learning and development across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
As the event concluded, there was a renewed call to action for individuals, institutions, and the government to collaborate in ensuring that no child is denied access to quality education due to financial or social barriers.
