Muttughat, located in the ECR area of Chennai, has now become a new and remarkable destination. Tamil Nadu's first floating restaurant has been opened here, offering a unique experience for tourists visiting Chennai. In the past, one had to travel by boat to experience the natural beauty of places like the Backwaters, but now, this experience can be enjoyed in a floating restaurant in a completely new way.
This floating restaurant is named "Seanz Cruise." Similar floating restaurants can be seen in several places, including Kerala, particularly in areas like Alappuzha. These boat houses offer an opportunity to enjoy food while immersing oneself in nature, making them popular spots to experience Kerala's natural beauty. Those who have experienced such floating restaurants in Kerala have often wondered why such an experience wasn't available in Tamil Nadu. Now, their dream has come true.
Tamil Nadu's first floating restaurant is now open in Muttughat. This restaurant has been created in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) and Grandier Marine International from Kochi. This new initiative is a significant platform for attracting tourists.
The floating restaurant, known as "Seanz Cruise," is 125 feet long and 25 feet wide. It features two floors. The restaurant can accommodate 100 people at a time, offering food in a buffet style, where a variety of dishes are served in smaller portions, allowing visitors to select what they prefer. While enjoying their meals, passengers can also enjoy a 3-kilometer-long boat ride to experience the natural beauty around them.
The first floor of the floating restaurant spans 6,000 square feet and is fully air-conditioned. It hosts DJ performances and other events, making it a place for entertainment. The second floor is an open-air area where buffet-style meals are served. This floating restaurant, built at a cost of Rs. 5 crore, is equipped with all necessary safety measures, including safety boats, fire-fighting equipment, and life jackets for all visitors.
This new floating restaurant serves as an important site for the development of tourism in Tamil Nadu. Not only does it offer tourists a new experience, but it will also enhance Tamil Nadu’s tourism appeal and create more job opportunities.
