Erode Turmeric Auction Suspended Today; Pongal Holidays Announced
The turmeric trade in Erode has been suspended today as a mark of respect for a member of the Erode Turmeric Merchants and Warehouse Owners Association who recently passed away. This decision was made to allow traders and stakeholders to pay their respects.
Pongal Holidays for Turmeric Trade:
In addition to today’s closure, the turmeric market in Erode will remain closed for the Pongal festival from January 13 to 17, 2025. This break coincides with the festive season, allowing traders and workers to celebrate the harvest festival with their families.
Auction Schedule Update:
With today’s suspension and the upcoming festival holidays, turmeric auctions will only be held on four days this week. Traders are advised to adjust their schedules accordingly.
Conclusion:
The suspension of trade today and the extended Pongal holidays reflect the importance of tradition and respect within the trading community. The Erode turmeric market will resume normal operations after January 17.
