Farmers Protest in Sathiyamangalam, Demand 14 Crore Profit Share from Sugar Mill
In a strong demonstration for their rights, farmers associated with the Tamil Nadu Sugarcane Growers' Association gathered in Sathiyamangalam, Tamil Nadu, for a protest in front of the Pannari Amman Sugar Mill. The rally, led by association president Sathishraj, focused on a critical demand: the release of a 14 crore rupee profit share, which they argue is their rightful due as per a court order.
The protest was spurred by the need for the mill to honor the court’s directive and release the profits that had been pending for some time. State general secretary of the association, Ravindran, voiced the farmers' concerns, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling the legal obligations toward the farmers.
More than 50 farmers, including district secretary Munusamy and mill secretary Muthusamy, participated in the protest, many holding sugarcane in their hands to symbolize their commitment to the cause. The farmers expressed their frustration over the delay in receiving their rightful share of profits, calling for justice to be served promptly.
This protest highlights the ongoing issues faced by sugarcane farmers in the region and their continuous struggle to secure fair compensation for their hard work and contributions to the industry.
