The Election Commission has announced the commencement of postal voting for the Erode East by-election from tomorrow. This facility is provided to ensure that elderly citizens and differently-abled individuals can exercise their voting rights conveniently without visiting polling booths.
Eligibility and Approvals
A total of 256 voters have been deemed eligible for postal voting in the constituency. This includes 209 senior citizens aged 85 and above, and 47 differently-abled individuals. Approval for these voters was granted under Form 12-D, as confirmed by polling booth-level officers.
Voting Procedure
Electoral officials will visit the homes of eligible voters to facilitate postal voting on January 24, 25, and 27. Differently-abled voters are required to present a copy of their government-issued disability certificate to validate their eligibility for postal voting.
