Protests erupted in Tharapuram yesterday as political parties, including V.C., Congress, and DMK, staged demonstrations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah over allegations of insulting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The protestors are accusing Shah of making disrespectful remarks against the prominent Indian leader and social reformer, an incident that has sparked widespread outrage.

The protests began in the afternoon near the old municipal office, where over 50 members of the V.C. party gathered, led by Tamilmuthu, the former district secretary of the party. Tamilmuthu emphasized that Amit Shah’s comments about Dr. Ambedkar were not only inappropriate but also hurt the sentiments of millions of people who revere the architect of India’s Constitution.

Later in the evening, Congress leaders, led by Thennarasu, the district president of Tiruppur, conducted their own protest. Kanapriya, the state executive member of Mahila Congress, led the demonstration. In their protest, the Congress leaders demanded strict action against Amit Shah and called for an apology from the Home Minister.

Following the Congress protest, DMK also staged a demonstration under the leadership of Dhanasekar, a senior member of the DMK's executive committee. The DMK protest, led by city secretary Muruganandam, called for the resignation of Amit Shah. The protestors chanted slogans demanding justice for Dr. Ambedkar and criticized the Home Minister for his alleged derogatory remarks.

The protests have garnered attention across the state, with political leaders and activists coming out in strong condemnation of Amit Shah's remarks. The various parties have stated that they will continue to press for action against the minister until an apology is issued.
