Kallakurichi, December 18, 2024: The Tamil Nadu government is launching state-level awards to encourage farmers involved in organic horticulture. These awards aim to recognize and reward farmers who practice sustainable and environmentally friendly horticulture, which contributes to the conservation of natural resources.

Farmers in Kallakurichi district who have demonstrated exceptional skills in organic horticulture will be awarded with cash prizes and certificates. The first prize will be ₹1 lakh, the second prize ₹60,000, and the third prize ₹40,000. These awards will motivate farmers and encourage them to continue growing crops using organic methods.

Organic farmers, who cultivate crops through environmentally safe practices, will be recognized as role models for other farmers to adopt similar sustainable practices.

Farmers interested in applying for the awards can submit their applications online through the official website of the Department of Horticulture (www.tnhorticulture.tn.gov.in). The last date for submission is December 26, 2024.
