In Utthiramerur, the canal that connects Nelvai Maduvu to the Madhuranthagam Lake has long been a crucial water passage. However, due to the small size of the bridge built across the canal at Kattiyaambandhal, the bridge has been unable to accommodate heavy water flow during rains. This has caused persistent problems in the area for several years.
Recently, following heavy rainfall in the region, the water level in the canal surged, and the small bridge at Kattiyaambandhal was completely submerged. As a result, traffic between Kattiyaambandhal and Vellapputhur was completely cut off, leaving local residents and commuters stranded. The villagers are now facing difficulties accessing other routes, as they are unable to travel via the Vellapputhur road to reach Vedanthangal.
The local community, along with residents from surrounding villages, has demanded that a larger, more robust bridge be constructed to address the ongoing traffic disruptions and provide a permanent solution to this problem. They have urged the authorities to take immediate action to resolve the issue and prevent further inconvenience.
