Protestors urged the government to act swiftly on the issues raised and to prioritize the completion of the bridge project, road repairs, and relief efforts for the cyclone victims.

In a show of solidarity and urgency, the Kanchipuram district unit of the AMMK staged a protest in Padappai on Wednesday, voicing their concerns over several critical issues that have been affecting the local community. The protest was centered around the dire need for repairing the poorly maintained roads in the Kunrathur Union, particularly those that are in a deplorable condition and pose risks to residents and commuters.

Another significant demand raised during the protest was the completion of the bridge construction work, which has been progressing at a slow pace, with little progress despite its importance to the area’s infrastructure. Local residents and community leaders expressed their frustration, highlighting the inconvenience caused by delays in the bridge project, which was expected to improve connectivity in the region.

Additionally, the protestors called for immediate relief for those who were affected by the aftermath of Cyclone 'Bengal,' which left many homes and livelihoods in distress. The protesters emphasized the need for swift action to provide compensation and aid to the victims of the cyclone, who have been struggling to rebuild their lives in the wake of the disaster.

Former Minister P. Valarmathi addressed the protestors, passionately condemning the increasing number of crimes such as murders, robberies, and sexual assaults occurring across Tamil Nadu. She specifically referenced the tragic assault incident at Anna University, expressing the need for justice. Valarmathi said, “We will not rest until we find out who 'that sir' is,” vowing to hold the individuals responsible for the crime accountable. Her remarks underscored the growing concern over the safety of women in the state and the need for stronger measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The protest in Padappai also brought to light the long-standing issues of infrastructure development and public safety, which have been neglected by authorities despite repeated demands from the community. Protestors urged the government to act swiftly on the issues raised and to prioritize the completion of the bridge project, road repairs, and relief efforts for the cyclone victims.

The AMMK party used this demonstration to reinforce its commitment to addressing the needs of the people and to demand a more responsive approach from local authorities. The protest ended with a call for immediate attention to these pressing concerns, signaling the party's determination to continue pushing for the welfare of the people of Kanchipuram.

The protest was centered around the dire need for repairing the poorly maintained roads in the Kunrathur Union, particularly those that are in a deplorable condition and pose risks to residents and commuters.
