The Dialysis Unit at Kanchipuram District Government Headquarters Hospital began operations on April 24, 2015. Initially launched with three dialysis machines, the unit has grown over time and now operates with 12 machines. In its first year, 877 patients received treatment, and today, this treatment facility serves people from all walks of life.
In a remarkable achievement, over 10,000 dialysis treatments were provided in the year 2024 alone at Kanchipuram Government Hospital. This accomplishment is a result of the dedication and commitment of the hospital and its medical staff. To commemorate this achievement and raise awareness about the importance and benefits of dialysis treatment, a rally was organized by nursing students within the hospital premises yesterday.
The rally was inaugurated by the Deputy Director of the hospital, Hilarina Jositta Nalini. The event was attended by Hospital Supervisor Balakrishnan, doctors, nurses, and other staff members. The purpose of this event was to spread awareness about dialysis treatment and to improve medical services, especially in rural areas.
The services provided at Kanchipuram Government Hospital are particularly beneficial for home-care patients, as well as those suffering from conditions like jaundice and other chronic illnesses. It has become a significant support system for the people living in various areas, especially those facing transportation challenges.
Looking ahead, plans are underway to further expand this facility. The aim is to incorporate new technologies and extend support to individuals and families who rely on these services. With these advancements, the hospital aims to provide even more comprehensive care and ensure that dialysis treatment becomes more accessible.
As a result, Kanchipuram District has become a key medical service hub for the region and surrounding areas. This development has made it possible for patients to receive treatment locally, without the need for long-distance travel.
Additionally, this initiative contributes to improving the quality of life for the residents of distant areas, as they now have access to various medical services and treatments that were once out of reach.
