Kanchipuram, a bustling city with important landmarks like the District Government Hospital, the main post office, the District Sports Complex, a cinema theater, and several commercial establishments, faces significant traffic congestion due to improper vehicle parking. The Farmers' Market area, situated along the busy Kanchipuram Railway Road, is a major hotspot for this issue. Vehicles parked along the roadside frequently obstruct traffic flow, causing frequent traffic jams and making commuting difficult for both drivers and pedestrians.
In addition to the market, nearby locations such as the old railway station, bus terminus, Gandhi Road, and various shops, including textile and grocery stores, draw heavy footfall and vehicular traffic. Drivers heading towards these areas often take the railway road, further contributing to the congestion. With the already high volume of traffic, the problem of vehicles blocking the road worsens, especially during peak hours.
Local vehicle owners and commuters have raised concerns over the frequent traffic snarls in this area and are urging the local police to intervene. They have called for stricter enforcement of parking regulations near the Farmers' Market to ease the flow of traffic and prevent further delays. This move is expected to bring much-needed relief to the residents and commuters in Kanchipuram.
