In a recent statement, BJP's Tamil Nadu State General Secretary Srinivasan declared that if the DMK secures more than 20 seats in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the BJP will cease to participate in political discourse. Speaking to reporters in Marthandam, he remarked that his party is committed to creating a strong coalition against the DMK in the 2026 elections, and if the DMK emerges victorious in over 20 constituencies, the BJP will exit politics.
Srinivasan’s comments also come amid growing concerns over social issues in the state. Citing a rise in caste-based violence and attacks on Dalits, Marxist State Secretary Palakrishnan said that this is a matter of shame for the Tamil Nadu government and demanded an explanation from the ruling DMK. He further criticized the government’s decision to declare public holidays for Thaipusam while alleging that the same level of recognition was not given to other religious events like Shivaratri.
Srinivasan also addressed the political ambitions of actor Vijay, suggesting that Vijay is attempting to use his cinematic fame to gain political influence. He believes that if Vijay continues to gain significant electoral support, it could divide the DMK’s vote base, which the BJP would then capitalize on.
Furthermore, Srinivasan assured that the BJP will form a formidable alliance against the DMK in 2026, aiming to oust the ruling party from power. He emphasized that the BJP’s political strategy for the upcoming elections would focus on addressing the issues that matter most to the people of Tamil Nadu and building a united front to challenge the DMK’s dominance.
As Tamil Nadu approaches the 2026 elections, the political atmosphere continues to intensify with parties positioning themselves for the upcoming battle.
