The Silver Jubilee celebration of the Thiruvalluvar Statue in Kanyakumari is set to take place after 25 years, bringing with it a grand celebration. The Thiruvalluvar Statue, one of India’s most iconic and renowned tourist destinations, was inaugurated in January 2000 during the tenure of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. The Tamil Nadu government is keen to commemorate this significant milestone with a series of events.
As part of the celebrations, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will visit Kanyakumari and attend the festivities, adding to the excitement of the occasion for the many visitors and tourists who flock to the site.
In addition to the statue, a new Glass Bridge has been constructed along the path leading to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. This bridge aims to replace the frequently used boat services and provides a new, innovative approach for visitors to access the memorial.
Once the Glass Bridge is inaugurated, it is expected to offer visitors and tourists a new experience, providing easier access and improving transportation across the area. This new bridge is also anticipated to further enhance the significance of the Thiruvalluvar Statue as a major tourist attraction.
The construction of the bridge and the overall developments are seen as a way to preserve and showcase the historical importance of Kanyakumari, while also adding a modern touch to the city’s infrastructure.
The Silver Jubilee celebrations are expected to boost Kanyakumari’s tourism, promoting the beauty of Tamil Nadu to the world and providing a much-needed boost to the region’s economy and cultural prominence.
