Originally conceptualized during the DMK government between 2006-2011 with an allocated budget of ₹5 crore, the project was delayed and eventually shelved during the subsequent AIADMK regime.

In Kanyakumari, a state-of-the-art sound and light show facility is being built to provide visitors with a magnificent view of the iconic Thiruvalluvar Statue from the shore. This initiative, backed by a ₹11 crore budget and German technology, is expected to transform the tourism experience in the region.

Originally conceptualized during the DMK government between 2006-2011 with an allocated budget of ₹5 crore, the project was delayed and eventually shelved during the subsequent AIADMK regime. However, in preparation for the silver jubilee celebrations of the Thiruvalluvar Statue’s installation on January 1, 2025, the project has been revived under the leadership of Kanyakumari District Collector Alagu Meena.

The sound and light show will be installed at the Poompuhar Transport Corporation campus in Kanyakumari. The facility can accommodate 100 visitors at a time, offering not only a vivid laser light display illuminating the statue from head to toe but also detailed insights into Thirukkural, including key verses and explanations.

Efforts to beautify Kanyakumari city are in full swing in preparation for the event. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is scheduled to inaugurate the sound and light show facility as part of the statue's silver jubilee celebrations.

With these enhancements, Kanyakumari aims to solidify its position as a prime cultural and tourist destination in Tamil Nadu.

This initiative, backed by a ₹11 crore budget and German technology, is expected to transform the tourism experience in the region.
