Podhamalai consists of three main villages – Keelur, Melur, and Keddamalai.

To resolve the road issue that has persisted for 150 years in Podhamalai, a new road project worth Rs. 140 crores is being actively carried out. Podhamalai, located near Rasipuram in the Namakkal district, is a mountainous area rich in natural resources. Various crops such as banana, pineapple, and paddy are cultivated here, and currently, pepper and coffee are grown over 20 acres of land.

Podhamalai consists of three main villages – Keelur, Melur, and Keddamalai. A total of 1,406 people live in these villages. Due to the lack of proper road facilities, the people in this mountainous region have faced extreme hardships. In particular, during sudden health issues or childbirth, people had to be carried on a 'doli' (a traditional stretcher) over rugged paths to medical facilities in Rasipuram or nearby regions. This often resulted in significant distress during emergencies.

However, a solution is now being implemented with the commencement of a new road project worth Rs. 140 crores. This road will connect the villages of Keddamalai, Keelur, and Melur. With this new road, people will be able to transport their agricultural products easily to nearby towns or other areas. Additionally, access to healthcare services will be more convenient, providing immediate medical assistance in emergencies.

This new development will significantly improve the quality of life for the people in the region, offering better facilities and quicker access to necessary services. This change has brought great joy and confidence among the residents of the area, who are now looking forward to a more comfortable and efficient way of life.
