Indian Air Force (IAF) officials conducted a helicopter landing trial near Mandapam Camp in Tamil Nadu ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Rameshwaram on April 6. The Prime Minister will be inaugurating the much-awaited Pamban Rail Bridge, a key infrastructure project that enhances connectivity between mainland Tamil Nadu and Rameshwaram island.
The helicopter landing trial was conducted as part of security and logistical preparations for the high-profile visit. The IAF, along with other security agencies, inspected the area to assess the feasibility of safe landings and emergency response measures. Senior officials from the Air Force and local administration were present to supervise the operation.
The Pamban Rail Bridge is a significant infrastructure project aimed at boosting transportation and economic activities in the region. It replaces the old bridge, which had been in service for over a century, with a modern structure that enhances rail connectivity and ensures safer transit for trains heading toward Rameshwaram. The new bridge is expected to support economic development and tourism in the area, a key pilgrimage destination.
Security measures for the Prime Minister’s visit have been heightened, with law enforcement agencies coordinating to ensure a smooth event. Authorities have been monitoring traffic management, crowd control, and emergency preparedness to avoid any disruptions during the visit.
PM Modi’s visit marks a significant milestone for Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure development, with the Pamban Rail Bridge playing a crucial role in regional connectivity. The bridge’s inauguration is expected to bring economic benefits and improve transport efficiency in the area.
