The Thaipoosam festival has officially commenced at the Thiruputhoor Thiruthalinathar Temple, situated in Kunnarkudi Devasthanam. The sacred event began on the evening of January 7, with the first pooja and abishekam (ritual bathing) conducted for Lord Subramaniar, performed by the priests. The ceremony included the Raj Alankara (royal adornment) of the deity and a deepa aradhana (lamp worship), marking the beginning of the festival. The celebration will continue with various rituals and offerings to Lord Subramaniar, culminating in special events for the devotees.

The festival will witness daily poojas and abishekam throughout the month, with the main rituals scheduled on significant days. On January 9, an evening special abishekam will be performed, followed by the observance of Shashti and Thiruvilakku pooja on January 19 and 20, respectively. On January 26, an important event will take place with the morning abishekam for both Lord Subramaniar and the Silver Vel (spear), which holds great significance during this festival.

As the days progress, the 108 Sankabhishekam will be conducted on January 29 in the evening, which is expected to attract many devotees to partake in the ritual. One of the festival's highlights is the Thiruvila procession scheduled for February 3, during which Lord Subramaniar will be taken on a ceremonial journey through the streets of the town. The Palanipadh Yathra, a pilgrimage, will begin on February 5, offering pilgrims an opportunity to connect spiritually with the divine as they walk to sacred destinations.

The festival will culminate on February 11, with a special Thaipoosam abishekam dedicated to Lord Subramaniar.
