Bathing Resumes at Kumbakarai Waterfalls as Water Flow Stabilizes

Tourists have been allowed to bathe again at the Kumbakarai Waterfalls following a stabilization of water flow. Located 8 kilometers from Periyakulam, Kumbakarai Waterfalls lies at the foothills of Kodaikanal. The falls receive their water flow from the rains in the surrounding catchment areas.

Due to heavy rains, a sudden surge in water flow occurred the day before yesterday, prompting the emergency evacuation of tourists. Bathing was prohibited from 12:00 PM as a precautionary measure, and safety measures were implemented in the area to ensure public safety during the flooding.

By 11:00 PM that same night, the water levels began to recede. By 5:00 AM yesterday, the flow had stabilized, and it was confirmed safe for visitors. Subsequently, under the supervision of Ranger Anbalagan, permission to bathe was granted from early morning.

Once bathing resumed, tourists and Ayyappa devotees flocked to the waterfalls with great enthusiasm. Many enjoyed bathing in the refreshing waters. As Kumbakarai Waterfalls is a popular tourist destination, the stabilization of the water flow brought much joy to visitors and devotees alike.
