In Theni district, while the rain had reduced last week, moderate cold winds were blowing during the night. However, over the past two days, the snowfall has increased significantly, and the cold has also intensified. Specifically, from 8:00 PM the night before yesterday until 9:00 AM the following morning, there was a severe snowfall accompanied by extreme cold.
This weather condition has had a significant impact on the public and travelers. People going out for walks, as well as those traveling on two-wheelers and motorcycles, suffered from the severe cold. In the morning, icy conditions formed on the roads due to the cold, causing a reduction in traffic speed and leading to several people being affected by the cold and requiring emergency treatment.
To mitigate the negative effects of this weather, the government and administration have been taking continuous awareness measures, advising the public about the dangers of the cold.
As the snowfall has increased, people have been advised to wear appropriate warm clothing to protect themselves from the cold and to travel safely.
