In Kadambathur, located along the Thirupachur - Kondancheri State Highway, the Koovam River footbridge has once again been damaged due to recent heavy rains. The footbridge, which was repaired in 2023 after previous damage, has faced further deterioration, causing significant disruption to traffic.
Following the damage, vehicle movement was temporarily halted. Despite this, two-wheeler riders have continued to navigate the dangerous stretch without acknowledging the risks. The National Highway Department has installed warning flags on both sides of the bridge near the Satharai and Kondancheri Panchayat borders, signaling that traffic is temporarily restricted due to water flowing over the bridge.
Despite the clear warnings, many two-wheeler riders are ignoring the safety concerns and continuing to travel through the hazardous area, posing risks to their lives. Vehicle riders are now demanding immediate intervention from the district administration to repair the damaged footbridge and restore safety for all commuters.
