The cloudburst occurred during the early hours of the morning in remote hilly terrains, where access is already limited due to ongoing monsoon rains.

In a tragic weather-related incident, a cloudburst struck parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, leading to sudden flash floods that swept away several people and caused significant damage to homes, roads, and farmlands. The cloudburst occurred during the early hours of the morning in remote hilly terrains, where access is already limited due to ongoing monsoon rains.

In Himachal Pradesh, districts such as Mandi, Kullu, and Chamba were among the worst affected. Local reports suggest that multiple houses were partially damaged or submerged, and vehicles were washed away due to overflowing streams. In Uttarakhand, the cloudburst caused landslides and heavy water flow in several villages near Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams, along with local police and emergency services, have been deployed to conduct rescue operations. Helicopters have also been arranged to airlift stranded individuals where road connectivity has been completely cut off. Several people have been rescued so far, while search operations continue for others reported missing.

Officials from the Meteorological Department have confirmed that intense rainfall activity is likely to continue in these regions over the next 48 hours. They have issued an orange alert and advised residents to avoid traveling near rivers, hill slopes, and landslide-prone zones.

In both states, the respective governments are coordinating relief efforts and providing temporary shelters to displaced families. Food supplies, clean drinking water, and medical aid are being provided at relief camps. Schools in affected areas have been temporarily closed, and local administrations are monitoring water levels in rivers and reservoirs to manage any further risk of flooding.

Eyewitnesses have described the incident as sudden and terrifying, with water levels rising within minutes and sweeping through roads and homes. "We did not have time to react. The water came like a wall and took away everything in its path," said a local resident of a village in Kullu district.

So far, no confirmed death toll has been released, as rescue operations are still underway. However, several individuals remain missing, and efforts are ongoing to locate them safely. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) units are also on standby in nearby regions in case additional support is needed.

Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors, follow official advisories, and report any emergencies to the nearest control room. Tourists planning to visit the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been advised to postpone their trips until the weather situation stabilizes.

The situation remains under close watch, and further updates are expected as rescue and relief work progresses across the affected areas.
