As part of the initiative, authorities have successfully collected 1.5 tonnes of waste, emphasizing the importance of maintaining cleanliness and sustainability in pilgrimage areas.

Following a record 47 lakh pilgrims visiting Badrinath, the temple town has launched an extensive cleanup drive to tackle the waste accumulated during the peak pilgrimage season. As part of the initiative, authorities have successfully collected 1.5 tonnes of waste, emphasizing the importance of maintaining cleanliness and sustainability in pilgrimage areas.

The massive influx of devotees, especially during the peak months, had led to a substantial amount of waste being generated. The cleanup drive aims to mitigate the environmental impact and ensure the sacred town remains clean for future visitors. Local authorities, supported by volunteers and community members, have been working round the clock to clear waste from key pilgrimage spots and surrounding areas.

In addition to cleaning up, the initiative also focuses on creating awareness among pilgrims about responsible waste disposal and environmental preservation. This initiative reflects a growing commitment to sustainable tourism, especially in areas of cultural and religious significance.

Badrinath, a key destination in Uttarakhand’s Char Dham Yatra, is revered by millions of devotees each year. Managing the environmental impact of large-scale pilgrimages has become an ongoing challenge, and this cleanup drive is a step toward ensuring that the region's natural beauty and sanctity are preserved.

With an eye on long-term sustainability, authorities are also exploring more effective waste management solutions and seeking to implement eco-friendly practices for future pilgrimages. The successful launch of this cleanup drive in Badrinath sets an important example for other pilgrimage destinations across India.
