Chhattisgarh took a major step forward in healthcare innovation with the launch of an advanced surgical robotic system named ‘Dev Hasta’ at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur. The inauguration was carried out by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, who emphasized the role of technology in improving patient care and modernizing healthcare infrastructure across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said that the introduction of ‘Dev Hasta’ marks a milestone for Chhattisgarh, as it will bring world-class surgical facilities to patients in the region. Until now, such advanced robotic surgery systems were largely available in metropolitan cities, limiting access for people from central India. With AIIMS Raipur equipped with this technology, patients from Chhattisgarh and neighboring states will now be able to undergo advanced surgeries without traveling long distances.
The robotic system, ‘Dev Hasta,’ is designed to provide greater precision during complex surgical procedures. Doctors explained that the system minimizes human error, allows for minimally invasive surgeries, and reduces recovery times significantly compared to traditional methods. It also enables surgeons to perform procedures with enhanced accuracy in areas such as urology, gynecology, cardiothoracic surgery, and oncology.
AIIMS Raipur officials highlighted that the introduction of robotic technology would not only benefit patients but also serve as an important platform for training medical professionals in the region. Medical students and young surgeons will gain exposure to modern surgical techniques, strengthening the overall healthcare ecosystem.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai appreciated the efforts of the doctors and staff at AIIMS Raipur for continually working toward improving medical services for the people of Chhattisgarh. He stated that access to advanced healthcare should not be limited to big cities and that every citizen deserves the benefits of modern medical innovation.
The installation of ‘Dev Hasta’ aligns with the government’s vision of building stronger healthcare infrastructure in the state. Over the past few years, AIIMS Raipur has been expanding its facilities in patient care, research, and medical education. With the addition of robotic surgery, the institute is expected to attract more patients from rural as well as urban areas, further strengthening its role as a leading medical institution in central India.
Doctors at the event expressed confidence that thousands of patients will benefit annually from this advancement. They noted that the system is especially useful in reducing complications during high-risk surgeries and ensuring faster recovery, which will greatly help patients from economically weaker backgrounds who cannot afford long hospital stays.
The launch of ‘Dev Hasta’ at AIIMS Raipur is being seen as a transformative development for the state’s healthcare sector. It symbolizes the growing focus on integrating technology with healthcare to create a more accessible, efficient, and patient-friendly system. For Chhattisgarh, this marks the beginning of a new era in surgical treatment, where advanced robotic solutions will play a crucial role in saving lives and improving health outcomes.
