The AAP, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accused the BJP of forgetting its commitments to the city’s residents, including issues related to electricity, water, and healthcare, which were central to the BJP’s 2015 and 2020 election campaigns.

As Delhi gears up for its upcoming assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), using a “Ghajini” reference to criticize its leadership. The term, inspired by the popular Bollywood film “Ghajini,” where the protagonist suffers from short-term memory loss, was used by AAP leaders to mock the BJP’s alleged forgetfulness on key promises made to the people of Delhi.

The AAP, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accused the BJP of forgetting its commitments to the city’s residents, including issues related to electricity, water, and healthcare, which were central to the BJP’s 2015 and 2020 election campaigns. With the Delhi elections on the horizon, this new jibe has added fuel to the political battle between the two parties, as both sides brace for a fiercely contested poll.

AAP’s spokesperson, speaking to the media, stated, “Just like the character in Ghajini, the BJP has forgotten its promises to the people of Delhi. They made tall claims about better services, but now they have conveniently erased those from their memory.”

The BJP, which has been in power at the Centre for over seven years, has been working hard to increase its footprint in Delhi, despite its limited success in local elections. The party has focused on issues like national security, economic development, and the construction of a grand Central Vista project. However, AAP’s aggressive electoral strategies, including offering better services and a strong local governance model, have made it a tough competitor.

As the battle for Delhi intensifies, both the AAP and BJP are gearing up for a high-stakes election, with each party accusing the other of neglecting the city's needs. The use of the “Ghajini” jibe is likely to become a focal point of the ongoing political exchange as election day nears.

This exchange marks the latest escalation in a heated political rivalry that shows no sign of slowing down. With Delhi voters’ minds firmly focused on the future, the coming weeks will be critical in determining whether AAP’s local governance model or BJP’s national narrative will prevail.
