The ‘Sebaashray’ health camps will also focus on spreading awareness about preventative healthcare and lifestyle diseases, in addition to providing immediate medical assistance.

Abhishek Banerjee, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Diamond Harbour, inaugurated the ‘Sebaashray’ health camp initiative on January 2, 2025. The program is designed to offer free healthcare services, including medical check-ups, consultations, and treatments, to underserved communities in the region. This initiative is expected to significantly benefit rural and marginalized areas where access to quality healthcare is limited.

Speaking at the launch event, Abhishek Banerjee highlighted the importance of making healthcare accessible to every individual, regardless of their socio-economic background. He emphasized that ‘Sebaashray’ aims to bridge the gap between urban healthcare facilities and rural areas, ensuring that those living in remote villages receive the care they deserve.

The health camp initiative is a part of Banerjee's ongoing efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure in West Bengal, particularly in Diamond Harbour and surrounding areas. The program will feature regular health check-ups for common ailments, maternal and child healthcare, as well as specialized consultations. Free medicines will also be provided to those in need, along with referrals for further treatment at government hospitals.

Banerjee also expressed his commitment to expanding the initiative beyond Diamond Harbour, with plans to launch similar camps in other districts of West Bengal. The goal, he said, is to create a widespread network of healthcare services that reaches even the most remote corners of the state.

The ‘Sebaashray’ health camps will also focus on spreading awareness about preventative healthcare and lifestyle diseases, in addition to providing immediate medical assistance. Banerjee encouraged local volunteers and healthcare professionals to actively participate in this mission, helping to ensure its success.

The launch of the health camp initiative has been met with positive responses from the local community, with many expressing their gratitude for the free medical services being offered. The program is expected to enhance the quality of healthcare in the region and address the healthcare disparities between urban and rural populations.

As the initiative gains momentum, it could serve as a model for other regions in India, demonstrating how political leaders can directly impact their constituents’ well-being through community-driven healthcare programs.

Free medicines will also be provided to those in need, along with referrals for further treatment at government hospitals.
