Chennai – The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has strongly criticized the BJP-led central government for what it described as “tall claims” regarding the success of welfare schemes in Tamil Nadu. Senior AIADMK leaders stated that many of the Union government’s flagship initiatives are either poorly implemented or not reaching the people they are intended to help.

Addressing a press conference, AIADMK spokespersons highlighted discrepancies between official announcements and the on-ground reality. They questioned the actual benefits received by rural populations and low-income groups under schemes such as PM-Kisan, Ayushman Bharat, and Ujjwala Yojana. According to the party, bureaucratic hurdles and lack of local coordination have prevented many eligible beneficiaries from availing the promised support.

“While advertisements claim massive success, in reality, people in Tamil Nadu, especially in rural and remote areas, are still struggling to access basic welfare benefits,” said one AIADMK leader. The party accused the central government of prioritizing publicity over effective policy execution.

The AIADMK also alleged that state-level concerns and feedback are being ignored during planning and implementation stages, which further weakens the effectiveness of centrally-sponsored programs in Tamil Nadu. They urged the Union government to consult with local authorities and state representatives to ensure smoother delivery and better outcomes.

The central government, however, has maintained that welfare delivery has improved significantly through digitization, direct benefit transfers, and increased coverage across the country, including in Tamil Nadu. Officials have also claimed that infrastructure and health services have seen noticeable improvements under schemes like PMAY and Ayushman Bharat.

Despite these claims, the AIADMK insists that without targeted audits and greater state involvement, these schemes will not bring tangible change to the lives of the common people.

The party concluded by demanding an independent review of welfare scheme performance in Tamil Nadu and more accountability from central agencies.

“While advertisements claim massive success, in reality, people in Tamil Nadu, especially in rural and remote areas, are still struggling to access basic welfare benefits,” said one AIADMK leader.
