All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has voiced strong criticism against the Election Commission of India over the ongoing voter list revision in Bihar.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has voiced strong criticism against the Election Commission of India over the ongoing voter list revision in Bihar. Speaking to the media during a visit to the state, Owaisi raised concerns about the fairness and accuracy of the process, alleging that many genuine voters, especially from minority and backward communities, are at risk of being left out.

Owaisi questioned the transparency of the voter list revision and claimed that his party had received several complaints from ground-level workers about names being omitted without proper verification. He urged the Election Commission to take corrective steps to ensure that no eligible citizen is denied the right to vote in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The AIMIM chief warned that failure to address these concerns could damage public trust in the electoral process.

He further said that the voter list revision must be carried out in a non-partisan and systematic manner, with adequate awareness among the public. Owaisi called on civil society and local administrations to assist in verifying voter data to prevent disenfranchisement.

In addition to addressing electoral concerns, Owaisi made it clear that his party will not join the INDIA bloc, the opposition alliance formed by several national and regional parties. He criticised the bloc for what he described as an unclear vision and lack of strong positions on critical issues such as social justice, minority rights, and equitable development.

Owaisi argued that the INDIA bloc has failed to provide a compelling alternative to the ruling coalition and accused its leaders of neglecting regions and communities that have historically faced political exclusion. He reiterated that AIMIM would contest the Bihar elections independently, with a focus on representing the voices of the marginalised and promoting inclusive governance.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, AIMIM made notable gains in the Seemanchal region, winning five seats. Owaisi said the party intends to build on that success by expanding its presence and offering a credible political platform for those who feel left out by mainstream parties.

He also emphasised that AIMIM’s campaign will focus on issues such as education, employment, healthcare, and protection of constitutional rights. The party will announce its candidates and detailed election strategy in the coming weeks.

Political analysts believe that Owaisi’s firm stance against both the ruling and opposition alliances positions AIMIM as a significant player in key constituencies, especially in regions with high minority populations. However, his criticism of the voter list process has added another layer of complexity to the pre-election political climate in Bihar.

As the state gears up for elections, Owaisi’s remarks are likely to fuel further debate around electoral integrity and alliance dynamics.
