The Maharashtra government and civil aviation authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident to determine potential contributing factors, which may include pilot decision-making, aircraft performance, and local weather conditions.

Flight data related to the tragic plane crash near Baramati that claimed the life of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has shed new light on the events leading to the incident. According to the preliminary information released, the aircraft initially attempted a visual approach for landing at Baramati Airport. However, the pilot aborted the landing midway and climbed the aircraft, indicating a possible challenge during the first approach.

After aborting the landing, the plane prepared for a second approach to Runway 11. The last recorded signal placed the aircraft west-northwest of the runway, shortly before it lost contact and ultimately crashed. The sequence of events suggests that the pilot was attempting to stabilise the aircraft for a safer landing after the first aborted attempt. Investigators are reviewing flight data and cockpit recordings to understand the exact cause of the crash and the sequence of maneuvers executed during the attempted landing.

The Baramati crash resulted in the deaths of all five individuals on board, including Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, his personal security officer, an attendant, and two crew members. The Maharashtra government and civil aviation authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident to determine potential contributing factors, which may include pilot decision-making, aircraft performance, and local weather conditions.

Preliminary weather data from Navi Mumbai reported haze on the day of the incident. While these conditions may not directly reflect Baramati’s local weather, authorities are analysing meteorological reports from the region to assess whether visibility or other atmospheric conditions played a role in the aborted landing and subsequent crash.

Ajit Pawar’s untimely death has been a significant loss to Maharashtra’s political landscape. He was widely regarded as one of the state’s most experienced and influential leaders, having served multiple terms as deputy chief minister and played a key role in state politics. His contributions to governance and policy implementation over decades have left a lasting impact on Maharashtra’s administration.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken charge of the investigation alongside local authorities, focusing on technical analysis of the aircraft, flight path data, and adherence to aviation safety protocols. Aviation experts anticipate that the final report will provide insights into both human and technical factors contributing to the crash.

As the investigation continues, state officials, political leaders, and citizens mourn the loss of Ajit Pawar, highlighting the tragic circumstances surrounding the crash. Safety protocols at smaller regional airports and pilot decision-making during visual landings are expected to come under greater scrutiny in the aftermath of this incident, with recommendations likely aimed at preventing similar accidents in the future.
