Humayun Kabir, founder of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party, has announced that his party will contest 182 seats in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled in 2026. The announcement marks a significant development as smaller and regional parties begin outlining their strategies ahead of the polls.
According to Kabir, the party aims to expand its presence across the state by contesting a large number of constituencies. He stated that the decision was taken after assessing the political landscape and the party’s organisational strength in various regions of West Bengal. Kabir also confirmed that the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen will be an alliance partner in the elections. As part of the alliance arrangement, the AIMIM is expected to contest around eight seats. In addition to announcing the party’s election plans, Kabir stated that he intends to contest from two constituencies.
