Political developments in Assam have intensified ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections as discussions about potential alliances and campaign strategies continue among major parties in the state.

Political developments in Assam have intensified ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections as discussions about potential alliances and campaign strategies continue among major parties in the state. Congress leader and State Congress President Gaurav Gogoi recently said that talks regarding a possible alliance between the Congress party and the regional Raijor Dal are currently on hold.

According to Gogoi, discussions between the two parties had taken place earlier as part of efforts to strengthen opposition unity in the state. However, he indicated that the negotiations have paused for the time being. Political observers believe that opposition alliances could play an important role in shaping the electoral contest in Assam, where several regional and national parties are expected to compete.

At the same time, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party have expressed confidence about their prospects in the upcoming elections. Assam Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker and BJP leader Numal Momin stated that the party expects strong support from voters across the state. He also claimed that Gaurav Gogoi may face a challenging contest if he contests from the Jorhat constituency.

Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Momin said the BJP is preparing extensively for the elections and believes its organisational strength and development agenda will help the party secure a significant victory. He expressed confidence that the BJP will perform strongly across several constituencies and may achieve what he described as a record result in the state assembly polls.

The Jorhat constituency has historically been an important political region in Assam and is often closely watched during elections. Analysts say that competition between major parties in this seat could attract considerable public attention during the campaign period.

Meanwhile, Assam Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass also addressed the media and spoke about the state government’s welfare programmes. He defended the Orunodoi 3.0 scheme, which provides financial assistance to economically weaker households in the state. According to Dass, the programme has benefited a large number of families by offering direct financial support that can help them meet essential expenses.

The Orunodoi scheme was introduced by the Assam government as part of its efforts to support vulnerable sections of society. Officials have said that the scheme aims to provide monthly financial assistance to women from low income households to improve their financial security and access to basic needs.

As the Assembly elections approach, political parties in Assam are focusing on both welfare initiatives and alliance strategies. Leaders from various parties have been meeting supporters and strengthening their campaign networks across different regions of the state.

Election campaigns in Assam are expected to revolve around issues such as economic development, welfare programmes, employment opportunities and infrastructure. Political parties are likely to present their achievements and policy proposals to voters during the campaign period.

With alliance discussions still uncertain and parties preparing their strategies, the political environment in Assam is gradually becoming more active as the state moves closer to the next Assembly election.
