Union Home Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah has accused Congress leaders of repeatedly using derogatory and abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a public meeting, Shah said this pattern of attacks shows the opposition’s frustration and failure to connect with people on issues of governance and development.
According to Shah, instead of presenting constructive ideas or alternative policies, Congress leaders have chosen to resort to personal criticism of the Prime Minister. He remarked that such behavior does not resonate with the people of India, who, in his words, continue to place their trust in Modi’s leadership and vision for the country.
Shah highlighted that despite opposition attacks, the Prime Minister’s popularity remains strong across states. He pointed out that Modi’s government has introduced several welfare schemes aimed at uplifting rural communities, empowering women, improving healthcare, and providing employment opportunities. “People have judged the Prime Minister by his work, not by the words of his critics,” Shah stated.
The Home Minister further argued that repeated verbal attacks from Congress reflect a lack of new ideas within the party. He claimed that the opposition has failed to provide a constructive roadmap for the nation’s growth and instead focuses on political rhetoric that does not align with the aspirations of common citizens.
At the gathering, Shah also urged people to evaluate political parties based on their track record. He emphasized that under Modi’s leadership, India has achieved significant progress in infrastructure development, digital transformation, and strengthening national security. “This is why the public continues to support the Prime Minister and rejects the negativity spread by the opposition,” he said.
Political observers note that the exchange of sharp remarks between BJP and Congress leaders has intensified in recent months as elections approach in several states. Leaders from both parties have been making strong statements, reflecting a highly charged political atmosphere.
Shah’s comments also come at a time when BJP has been focusing on highlighting Modi’s image as a leader who delivers on promises. Party leaders have consistently portrayed him as a figure of stability and progress, contrasting this with what they describe as Congress’s lack of unity and direction.
Congress leaders, on the other hand, have defended their criticism of Modi, arguing that it is aimed at holding the government accountable. They maintain that issues such as unemployment, inflation, and agrarian distress need more attention, and that their remarks reflect genuine concerns.
Nonetheless, Amit Shah’s statement reinforces BJP’s long-standing narrative that personal attacks on Modi strengthen his bond with the people rather than weaken it. By framing the Congress’s criticism as a sign of desperation, the ruling party seeks to underline its confidence in Modi’s continued popularity and ability to lead future electoral victories.
The remarks are expected to further intensify the political debate, with both sides using the issue to rally support among their respective voter bases. As campaigning continues, the focus on language, rhetoric, and leadership credibility is likely to remain central in shaping the national discourse.
