Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently visited a Bru settlement in Tripura to review the progress of the Bru Rehabilitation Package. The package aims to resettle members of the Bru community, who had been living in relief camps in Tripura for over two decades, after being displaced from Mizoram.
Shah’s visit was a significant step in ensuring the successful implementation of the rehabilitation plan, which includes financial assistance, land allocation, and other welfare measures. During his visit, Shah engaged directly with the Bru community, seeking their feedback on the ongoing resettlement process and addressing any concerns they may have.
The Bru Rehabilitation Package, launched in 2020, is part of the broader efforts by the central government to resolve the long-standing issue of the displaced community. Amit Shah's inspection comes at a crucial time, as the government aims to ensure that the resettlement is carried out smoothly and the benefits reach the intended recipients.
The Home Minister’s interaction with the Brus also served as an opportunity to hear their concerns firsthand. Shah assured the community of the government’s continued support for their rehabilitation and integration into society. The visit highlighted the government's commitment to resolving the Bru issue and bringing lasting peace to the region.
The successful implementation of the Bru Rehabilitation Package is seen as a major achievement for the central government, and Shah's visit is expected to further solidify the government’s resolve to address the challenges faced by displaced communities.
