The Chief Minister stated that the Assam government has submitted all available documents and evidence to the appropriate authorities at the national level.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that allegations concerning Congress Member of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi and his alleged links to Pakistan have been transferred to the Central government for further investigation. The Chief Minister stated that the Assam government has submitted all available documents and evidence to the appropriate authorities at the national level.

Speaking on the matter, Sarma said the decision to refer the case to the Centre was taken to ensure an impartial and comprehensive probe. He described the development as a significant step, adding that issues involving national security and alleged foreign connections require detailed scrutiny by Central agencies. According to him, the state government has fulfilled its responsibility by compiling and forwarding relevant information.

The allegations reportedly relate to claims that certain actions or associations could be linked to interests that may undermine India’s development. However, no official findings or conclusions have been released so far. The Central government has not yet issued a detailed public statement outlining the next steps in the inquiry process.

Gaurav Gogoi, a senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament from Assam, has been an active voice on various national and state issues. As of now, there has been no comprehensive response from Gogoi addressing the specific allegations mentioned by the Chief Minister. Political observers note that such accusations often lead to strong exchanges between rival parties, especially in states with competitive political landscapes.

The referral of the case to the Centre has intensified political debate in Assam. Leaders from the ruling party have defended the move, stating that transparency and accountability are necessary when allegations of serious nature arise. Meanwhile, Congress representatives have termed the accusations politically motivated, though no formal statement detailing their position has been issued at the time of writing.

Experts point out that investigations involving allegations of foreign links typically require coordination between multiple agencies. These may include intelligence assessments, verification of communications and examination of financial or organizational records. Any conclusions would depend on the findings of the Central authorities after reviewing the submitted evidence.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the objective behind transferring the case is to ensure that facts are examined thoroughly and that appropriate action is taken if required. He added that maintaining public trust in governance and national security institutions remains a priority.

Political analysts believe the issue may have broader implications for state and national politics, particularly with upcoming electoral considerations. Allegations of this nature often become central points of debate between ruling and opposition parties.

At present, the matter remains under review at the Central level. No official charges or confirmed findings have been announced. The outcome of the investigation will depend on the assessment conducted by the relevant authorities after examining the materials provided by the Assam government.

The situation continues to develop, and further updates are expected once the Central government completes its preliminary evaluation of the case.
