Baghel has said that the Prime Minister’s failure to issue a statement or denial only fuels speculation and raises questions about transparency in foreign affairs.

Chhattisgarh Congress leader and senior party member Bhupesh Baghel has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's continued silence over  United States President Donald Trump's reported claims regarding his role in a ceasefire involving India. Baghel’s comments have added a political dimension to a developing international story that has attracted attention due to its diplomatic implications.

According to recent reports, Donald Trump has claimed he had played a role in facilitating a ceasefire or easing of tensions involving India during his presidency. While the exact details of this involvement remain unclear, opposition leaders in India have called upon the government to clarify the nature and extent of any such diplomatic engagement. Baghel has said that the Prime Minister’s failure to issue a statement or denial only fuels speculation and raises questions about transparency in foreign affairs.

In his remarks to the media, Baghel stated that any suggestion of third-party intervention in India's sovereign decisions, especially on sensitive matters like security or international disputes, must be addressed directly by the government. He added that if such a claim is unfounded, then the Ministry of External Affairs or the Prime Minister himself should dismiss it publicly to prevent misinformation from spreading.

India has traditionally maintained a firm stance against foreign mediation in bilateral issues, especially in relation to its neighbors. This principle has guided Indian foreign policy across multiple administrations, and any deviation from it would represent a significant shift. Baghel pointed out that silence on this matter may lead to questions about whether such foreign interventions had actually occurred and if so, under what conditions.

The Congress leader emphasized that national security, international relations, and diplomatic transparency are issues that transcend party lines and must be handled with utmost responsibility. He accused the government of withholding information from the public and Parliament, stating that issues with international ramifications should be discussed openly in a democratic setting.

Baghel also called upon other opposition parties to join in demanding accountability from the government on this matter. He said that foreign leaders making bold claims involving India should not be ignored and must be either validated or rejected through official channels. According to him, allowing such narratives to go unaddressed could damage India's image on the global stage and undermine the credibility of its leadership.

The Ministry of External Affairs has not yet issued a formal response to Trump’s comments, and the Prime Minister’s Office has remained silent as well. This lack of clarity has led to increased media speculation and calls from political analysts for a coherent explanation from New Delhi.

As the debate continues, the issue is expected to be raised in Parliament and could become a talking point in political discourse, especially if the opposition presses for an official clarification. For now, Bhupesh Baghel’s statement has reignited focus on the intersection of foreign policy, political transparency, and democratic accountability in India.

While the exact details of this involvement remain unclear, opposition leaders in India have called upon the government to clarify the nature and extent of any such diplomatic engagement.
