Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a new scheme to provide financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month to unemployed graduates across the state. This initiative aims to support young job seekers who have completed their higher education but have not yet secured employment. The scheme is part of the state government’s broader efforts to address youth unemployment and provide financial relief to educated job aspirants.
According to the Chief Minister, the program will help graduates cover basic living expenses while they continue to search for suitable employment opportunities. CM Kumar emphasized that financial support during the period of job hunting is essential to reduce economic hardship and ensure that young people can focus on career development without undue stress.
The Bihar government has set eligibility criteria for the program, requiring applicants to hold a recognized graduation degree, be residents of Bihar, and currently be unemployed. Applicants will need to submit relevant educational certificates, proof of residence, and an affidavit confirming their unemployment status. The government has promised a transparent verification process to ensure that only deserving candidates receive the assistance.
CM Nitish Kumar highlighted that the state is taking multiple steps to enhance employment opportunities, including skill development programs, vocational training, and partnerships with private industries. The financial assistance scheme complements these measures by providing immediate support to graduates while the state works on long-term employment solutions.
The government plans to implement the program through an online portal, where graduates can register and submit applications. Once verified, the assistance will be directly credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing delays. Authorities have stated that periodic monitoring will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of the scheme and identify areas for improvement.
This initiative is expected to benefit thousands of unemployed graduates across Bihar, particularly those from rural areas where job opportunities are limited. By providing financial support, the government aims to reduce migration pressures and encourage young people to explore local employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Critics have noted that while the financial assistance may be modest, it is a positive step toward recognizing the challenges faced by educated youth. CM Kumar assured that the government will continue to work on enhancing employment prospects, strengthening education-to-employment linkages, and expanding skill-building initiatives.
The Chief Minister urged eligible graduates to take advantage of the scheme and submit their applications promptly. He also emphasized that the government is committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and timely distribution of funds to ensure that the program fulfills its intended purpose.
The Rs 1,000 monthly assistance program reflects Bihar’s commitment to supporting its educated workforce and addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment. By combining financial aid with employment-oriented programs, the state government hopes to create a more inclusive and sustainable pathway for young graduates to achieve economic independence and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
