New Delhi, April 29 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of failing to rein in its leaders who made controversial remarks following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. The BJP alleged that several Congress leaders tried to politicize the incident instead of standing in solidarity with the victims and the nation.

Senior BJP spokespersons, in separate press briefings, expressed strong displeasure over statements made by Congress leaders questioning the government’s handling of internal security. BJP leaders said that at a time when the country is mourning the loss of innocent lives, political parties should unite against terrorism rather than indulge in blame games.

"BJP condemns the irresponsible remarks made by certain Congress leaders regarding the Pahalgam attack," said BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia. "Instead of supporting the security forces and the government’s efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, some Congress leaders are trying to score political points. It is deeply unfortunate."

Union Minister Anurag Thakur also criticized Congress, stating that such comments demoralize the armed forces and security agencies working tirelessly to maintain peace in the region. "The least we expect from a national party is a responsible and sensitive approach to national security issues," he added.

The BJP further alleged that Congress’s failure to take disciplinary action against its members indicates a lack of internal control and leadership. BJP leaders argued that a national tragedy of this magnitude should not become a platform for political mudslinging. They urged Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi to take strict action against party members who made "irresponsible and inflammatory" statements.

Meanwhile, Congress has defended its leaders, stating that raising questions about national security lapses is a democratic right. Congress leaders asserted that their criticism was directed at demanding accountability and ensuring better security measures, not at demoralizing security forces.

The exchange between the two major political parties has further intensified the political atmosphere in Delhi, even as the nation continues to grieve the loss of lives in Pahalgam. Citizens, meanwhile, have called for political maturity and unity during such critical times, urging leaders from all parties to work together in strengthening the nation’s security framework.

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir remain on high alert following the attack, and investigations are underway to identify and neutralize those responsible. The Centre has assured that all measures are being taken to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of civilians.

As the debate continues in the political arena, experts have stressed that bipartisan support is crucial when dealing with national security threats. The public looks forward to seeing constructive actions and mature leadership in these trying times.
