BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has raised serious allegations against the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, accusing it of orchestrating “Bangladesh-style attacks on Hindus” in several parts of the state.

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has raised serious allegations against the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, accusing it of orchestrating “Bangladesh-style attacks on Hindus” in several parts of the state. Adhikari, a prominent opposition figure, claimed that Hindu communities were being targeted and subjected to violence, particularly in districts where BJP has been trying to gain a foothold.

The allegations have sparked a major political controversy in the state, with Adhikari accusing the TMC government of failing to provide adequate protection to Hindus, particularly during festivals or in areas with a significant Hindu population. He suggested that the attacks on Hindus were being carried out with the tacit support of local TMC leaders and were aimed at polarizing communities along religious lines.

Adhikari’s remarks have drawn sharp reactions from both the ruling TMC and BJP supporters. The TMC leadership, however, dismissed the charges, calling them politically motivated and an attempt to defame the state government. Mamata Banerjee’s party has also claimed that the BJP is making false allegations to fuel communal tensions and gain political mileage ahead of upcoming elections.

The allegations come amid a series of communal clashes and incidents of violence in various parts of West Bengal, which have fueled a broader debate on the state's law and order situation. The BJP, which has been gaining ground in West Bengal, has accused the TMC of being soft on violence against Hindus, pointing to incidents where Hindu processions were allegedly disrupted and people were attacked. In response, the TMC has accused the BJP of using such claims to create division and instability in the state.

In his statement, Suvendu Adhikari also invoked the situation in Bangladesh, referring to reports of attacks on Hindu temples and religious minorities in the neighboring country. He argued that similar patterns were emerging in West Bengal, with Hindus being targeted in a manner akin to what was allegedly happening across the border.

The political tension between the BJP and TMC is reaching a boiling point as both parties prepare for future elections. BJP leaders are focusing on highlighting issues of communal tension, while the TMC has been focusing on welfare programs and development as part of its political strategy.

The allegations have sparked a major political controversy in the state, with Adhikari accusing the TMC government of failing to provide adequate protection to Hindus, particularly during festivals or in areas with a significant Hindu population.
