The Congress party has intensified its criticism of the ruling JDU-BJP alliance in Bihar, accusing it of completely failing to maintain law and order in the state. In a strongly worded statement, senior Congress leaders alleged that the coalition government has turned Bihar into the crime capital of the country through mismanagement, political indifference, and a lack of accountability.
Addressing the media in Patna, Congress spokespersons pointed to the rising number of criminal incidents reported across various districts of Bihar. They said that the people of the state are living in constant fear as cases of murder, extortion, armed robbery, kidnapping, and violence against women continue to rise. The opposition party claimed that the government has failed to take strong action against repeat offenders and that the criminal justice system is under immense pressure due to political interference.
Congress leaders also alleged that many criminals enjoy political protection and are not brought to justice despite serious charges against them. They accused the ruling parties of allowing lawlessness to grow unchecked in exchange for vote bank politics and local influence.
Referring to recent incidents of daylight murders and rising gang-related violence, the Congress demanded a white paper on the law-and-order situation in Bihar. They further demanded the resignation of the Home Minister and urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take direct responsibility for the deteriorating situation.
According to Congress, the alliance government has failed to recruit and train adequate police personnel, resulting in overburdened law enforcement agencies across the state. The party also criticized the lack of modern technology and surveillance systems in place to help prevent and detect crimes.
The statement from Congress also drew attention to the fear and uncertainty among businessmen, traders, and ordinary citizens, who are reluctant to operate or travel freely due to rising insecurity. They warned that the poor law and order situation is hampering not only the quality of life for residents but also discouraging investment and economic activity in the state.
In response, leaders from the ruling JDU-BJP alliance dismissed the allegations as politically motivated. They claimed that the opposition is exaggerating facts and attempting to divert attention from their own failures. Government representatives stated that law enforcement agencies are actively working to control crime and that many criminals have been arrested in recent months.
However, the Congress party insists that the situation demands urgent and transparent action. They have announced plans to launch public awareness campaigns and hold protests across the state if the government fails to act decisively in the coming weeks.
The political climate in Bihar remains tense, with law and order emerging as a central issue ahead of upcoming elections. Public sentiment appears divided, but the growing number of high-profile criminal cases continues to put pressure on the state administration to deliver results.
