The political tussle between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress has escalated, with the latter filing breach of privilege notices against Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and BJP National President JP Nadda. Congress leaders have alleged that the statements made by the two senior BJP figures were misleading, inaccurate, and a violation of parliamentary ethics.
The notices were submitted in response to remarks made by Rijiju and Nadda, which Congress claims were aimed at tarnishing the party’s reputation. The opposition argues that such statements breach parliamentary privileges and set a dangerous precedent for democratic discourse in the country. Congress leaders have demanded strict action against both BJP leaders, stating that their comments were not only politically motivated but also an attempt to distort facts.
Senior Congress members insist that the BJP’s repeated attacks on their party are part of a larger strategy to deflect attention from critical national issues. They argue that instead of focusing on governance, the ruling party is using misleading narratives to target the opposition. The Congress has urged the Speaker to take appropriate action against Rijiju and Nadda, emphasizing that such instances weaken parliamentary democracy.
The BJP, on the other hand, has dismissed Congress’ allegations, stating that the notices are politically motivated and an attempt to silence criticism. Party spokespersons have defended Rijiju and Nadda, asserting that their remarks were based on facts and political accountability. They argue that Congress should engage in constructive debates rather than resorting to procedural complaints.
