Ahmedabad – The Indian National Congress held its All India Congress Committee (AICC) session in Ahmedabad this week, aiming to revitalize the party amid growing political challenges, recent electoral losses, and tension within the opposition INDIA alliance. Top party leaders, senior state heads, and youth representatives participated in the session, which focused on strategic reforms and reconnecting with the grassroots.
Party president Mallikarjun Kharge opened the session by acknowledging the need for serious introspection and a shift in political messaging. He emphasized unity, organization-wide accountability, and youth engagement as key priorities going forward. “We must move from reaction to action and from slogans to solutions,” he told party workers.
The Congress leadership outlined a comprehensive revival roadmap, including enhanced coordination among alliance partners, improved booth-level management, and a revamped communication strategy to counter what it described as a "narrative monopoly" by the ruling BJP. The party also plans to launch regional campaigns on unemployment, inflation, and farmer distress to regain lost ground.
One of the central themes of the session was the party's strained ties with other INDIA bloc members. Some leaders expressed concern over seat-sharing challenges and the lack of clarity in alliance commitments. Senior Congress functionaries stated that maintaining the unity of the alliance while preserving party identity would be a delicate but essential task ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Leaders also pushed for modernizing the party's approach—leveraging digital platforms, empowering local units, and focusing on data-driven campaign strategies. Rahul Gandhi, in his address, reiterated the need to fight ideological battles firmly but peacefully, stating, “This is not just a political fight, it is a fight for the soul of India.”
The AICC session concluded with the adoption of a political resolution promising stronger opposition, internal restructuring, and renewed outreach to every section of Indian society. The leadership urged party members to stay united and proactive in the months to come.
The coming weeks are expected to see state-level follow-up meetings to translate the session’s agenda into local action.
