Yaskhi dismissed claims that election campaigns by the Bharatiya Janata Party or actor-politician Pawan Kalyan would have a significant impact on the municipal election results in Telangana.

Congress leader Madhu Goud Yaskhi on Wednesday strongly criticised the central government following reports that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha. Reacting to the incident, Yaskhi accused the Prime Minister and the Union government of functioning in an authoritarian manner and described the situation as a complete dictatorship. His remarks have added to the growing political debate over parliamentary conduct and the role of the opposition in the House.

According to Yaskhi, preventing the Leader of Opposition from expressing his views undermines democratic values and parliamentary traditions. He said that Parliament is meant to be a platform for debate and discussion, where both the government and the opposition have the right to present their perspectives. He alleged that the ruling dispensation was attempting to silence dissenting voices rather than engaging in meaningful dialogue on important national issues.

The Congress leader also stated that such incidents weaken democratic institutions and reduce public trust in the parliamentary system. He argued that the opposition plays a crucial role in holding the government accountable and that restricting its voice goes against the spirit of the Constitution. Yaskhi urged the government to respect democratic norms and allow open discussions in the Lok Sabha.

Apart from the Lok Sabha issue, Madhu Goud Yaskhi also spoke about the upcoming Telangana municipal elections, which are scheduled to be held on February 11. Expressing confidence in the Congress party’s prospects, he said that the party was well prepared and enjoyed strong grassroots support across the state. According to him, public sentiment was in favour of the Congress due to its focus on welfare measures and development-oriented policies.

Yaskhi dismissed claims that election campaigns by the Bharatiya Janata Party or actor-politician Pawan Kalyan would have a significant impact on the municipal election results in Telangana. He stated that voters were more concerned about local issues, governance, and delivery of public services rather than high-profile campaign narratives. He added that the Congress had a clear agenda to address civic concerns such as water supply, sanitation, infrastructure, and employment.

Leaders from the ruling party, however, have rejected the dictatorship allegation and maintained that parliamentary proceedings are conducted according to established rules and procedures. They accused the Congress of creating unnecessary controversy for political gain and said that disruptions in the House often prevent smooth functioning.

The controversy highlights the ongoing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition in Parliament. As the political climate remains charged, debates over democratic practices, freedom of expression, and the functioning of legislative institutions are expected to continue both inside and outside Parliament in the coming days.

He said that Parliament is meant to be a platform for debate and discussion, where both the government and the opposition have the right to present their perspectives.
